Yesterday, we went to UST hospital to bring you there for a check up. Turns out what we thought to be sore eyes is something else, and we found this out when I was trying to wipe off the dirt in your eyes and your left eye started bleeding all of a sudden. This happened Sunday night son. And I could not wait for Monday to finally bring you to your Pedia – Dra. Gonzales.
It was a good thing no one is being checked up on by Dra. Gonzales when we got there so she checked you up right away. She told us to make you lie down on the bed and she will perform the usual rituals they do when checking up kids. You cried in protest and there it went again, your tears had blood again. We were ordered to immediately go to the Opthalmologist – Dr. Jose Duran. We waited for about an hour before they called us in. Good thing that your grandpa was there to be with us.
I was close to tears while in the waiting area, praying that its nothing serious. I tried to distract myself by playing a game in my mobile phone. Your dad did the same thing.
When it was finally your turn, I was beyond grateful when the doctor said it was not to be a cause for worry. He said your eyes must have experienced trauma, but the cornea part is clear. You were prescribed an ointment that needs to be applied 3x a day, which we can only do when you’re asleep.
God blessed us and showed us His loving kindness by taking care of you. At the same time, He also provided for the doctor’s fee, snacks and the money to buy your ointment.
There is one really funny thing that I’d like to share with you. While we were at the drugstore, we had to call back the doctor to ask for another medicine or clarification. Apparently, the pharmacist told us that the medicine he gave doesn’t have an ointment only drops. But since his prescription specifically states ointment, I decided to call back the doctor. When the nurse/secretary inquired who I am, I told her that I’m the mother of the child the doctor saw earlier. To which the nurse replied: “ ah yung matabang bata?” ( ah the fat kid?). of which I could not help but laugh. Bawbaw ni mommy noh. Hehe healthy ka naman talaga eh.
Anyhow, I asked my superiors if I could adjust my schedule and was told I could. It was great because Nathan slept beside mommy and had an uninterrupted long good night sleep! =)
